Compare the Chevy Colorado

Compare the Chevy Colorado to the Honda Ridgeline and Nissan Frontier at Ciocca Atlantic City

Sometimes, you don't need all the muscle and power that comes with a full-size pickup truck - you're more interested in a midsize option that offers the right amount of capability for your drive. When you work with our Chevy team, you're in luck. We're excited to offer the Chevy Colorado, a midsize pickup option that works hard and keeps you cozy, wherever you go.

The Chevy Colorado isn't without some competition, though. Rivals like the Honda Ridgeline and Nissan Frontier reside in the same segment, and you might be interested in exploring what they have to offer. Don't worry! We've done the legwork for you. Below, we've compared the Chevy truck to its competitors, showcasing where the new Colorado comes out on top. If you have any questions on the comparisons, give us a call!

Chevy Colorado vs. Honda Ridgeline

Buying a midsize pickup truck doesn't mean you need to give up power - quite the contrary. The Chevy Colorado comes with three engine options: a 2.5-liter delivering 200 horsepower and 191 pound-feet of torque, a 3.6-liter V6 delivering 308 horsepower and 275 pound-feet, and a Duramax® 2.8-liter Turbo-Diesel delivering 181 horsepower and 369 pound-feet. With the Honda Ridgeline, you're limited to one engine option, a 3.6-liter V6 that delivers 280 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. While the Ridgeline equips a stronger engine standard, the Colorado's V6 is still the more powerful option - with the Turbo-Diesel engine, you'll get more torque than anything the Ridgeline can offer.

Looking to hook up a trailer and hit the road? Both trucks come with the capability to attach a trailer, but the Colorado will offer more towing capacity with its lineup. The Duramax® engine can tow up to 7,700 pounds, while the V6 engine holds its own at 7,000 pounds. Unfortunately, the Ridgeline can't match these numbers - it only tows up to 5,000 pounds.

While you might not always consider pickup trucks to be efficient options, the Chevy Colorado offers plenty of miles in between your trips to the gas pump. The new Colorado offers an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 19/25 mpg city/highway with the standard 2.5-liter engine. With the Duramax® Turbo-Diesel, those numbers jump to 20/30 mpg city/highway. In the Honda Ridgeline, you'll have to work with 18/24 mpg city/highway.

Chevy Colorado vs. Nissan Frontier

Engine options are once again the bread and butter of the Colorado lineup. The Nissan Frontier offers one engine option - a 3.8-liter V6 that outputs 310 horsepower and 281 pound-feet of torque. Its V6 is a match for the Chevy Colorado's available powertrain. The Nissan Frontier will limit you to that solo engine - the Colorado also offers a 2.8-liter Duramax® Turbo-Diesel powertrain with 369 pound-feet of torque.

The Nissan Frontier is no slouch in the towing department. When properly equipped, the Frontier manages a maximum towing capacity of 6,570 pounds, which is enough to manage smaller equipment or supply loads. Unfortunately for Nissan owners, that still leaves the lineup behind the Chevy Colorado, which tows more with its V6 and Turbo-Diesel engine.

Passengers in the front-row of the Colorado get more than just a cozy, bump-free drive! The front seats offer 41.4 inches of headroom and 45 inches of legroom to help you get comfortable. The Nissan Frontier will feel a bit more cramped, only offering 39.9 inches and 42.3 inches, respectively. Adult passengers will enjoy the ride when you hit the road in the Colorado over its Nissan rival.
