Getting the right kind of muscle for your work or home life can make a big difference in how your experience goes. From towing and hauling to powerful engines and impressive capability, there's no vehicle more suited to hard work than a pickup truck. But what happens when you need a vehicle that doesn't guzzle the gas? You'll have to go for an SUV or sedan, right? Not the case with upcoming all-electric trucks, like the new Chevy Silverado EV!

The Chevy Silverado EV is the lineup's answer to efficient and muscular power that takes care of all the items on your worklist. However, the Chevy Silverado EV doesn't stand alone in this category. Rivals like the new Ford F-150 Lightning offer a similar experience, making your decision a tough one. Below, you'll find a few comparisons between the two trucks that demonstrate why the Silverado EV is the preferable answer for truck lovers who want to avoid the gas pump. Explore the head-to-head matchup and see what the Chevy Silverado EV has in store for you!<

Chevy Silverado EV vs. Ford F-150 Lightning

Under the hood, you won't find your traditional engine - in fact, you won't find anything! However, that doesn't mean you won't have plenty of power for your drive. The Chevy Silverado EV performance features the Wide Open Watts feature, which puts out 660 horsepower and 780 pound-feet of torque to push your drive to the limits! While the Ford F-150 Lightning has plenty of power, even its Extended Battery configuration doesn't quite match up. The best the F-150 Lightning can do is 563 horsepower and 778 pound-feet of torque.

Thanks to all that muscle, you can expect a robust towing capacity for both pickup trucks. The Chevy Silverado EV, when properly equipped, can tow up to 10,000 pounds - a feat matched by the Ford F-150 Lightning. However, the upcoming Silverado EV WT trim will increase its towing capacity up to 20,000 pounds. The Ford F-150 Lightning has no trim level that can't match that amount.

However, it's not all about power with an EV. The all-electric Chevy Silverado EV enjoys an efficient range from its battery-powered powertrain. Quick charging stations and at-home setups allow you to efficiently charge your vehicle's battery, providing you with a maximum range of 400 miles. While the Ford pickup offers two battery options - Standard and Extended Range - you won't get nearly as many miles out of a single charge. The Ford EV only offers up to 300 miles with the Extended Range battery.

Innovation can make a large difference when it comes to picking out your next truck. The Chevy Silverado offers front trunk storage, modernized LED lighting, and an aerodynamic frame that improves performance and efficiency - all features matched by the Ford F-150 Lightning. However, the Chevy Silverado EV borrows the Multi-Flex Tailgate configuration from its gas-powered cousin and enhances it with the new Multi-Flex Midgate with Pass-Through option. This feature allows you to fit those extra-long items, accommodating up to 10 feet in length. The Ford truck can't offer a similar feature.

With new, all-electric trucks, you can expect exciting and innovative new features to play with. The Chevy Silverado EV equips options like the Super Cruise™ true hands-free driver assistance feature, a 17-inch diagonal, free-form screen, and so much more! While the Ford F-150 Lightning will offer similar options, you won't find the same seamless connectivity available with the Chevy EV pickup.
